Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is a 2003 American epic period war-drama film co-written, produced and directed by Peter Weir, set during the Napoleonic Wars. Master and Commander follows the adventures of Captain 'Lucky' Jack Aubrey (Russell Crowe), ship's doctor Stephen Maturin (Paul Bettany) and the crew of the HMS Surprise, on a journey around globe. Based on the beloved novels of Patrick O'Brian, it re-creates the world of the British navy circa 1805 with such detail and intensity that the sea battles become stages for personality and character.

The ComputerCafe Group's CaféFX worked on 22 complex shots, requiring compositing and digital matte painting.
